THATCHER, Arizona - The Seminole State College Trojan Volleyball season came to an end tonight. It took the first set for the ladies to shake the jitters, but the Gila Monster's of Eastern Arizona had an electric crowd to help them pull out the District C Championship.
Eastern Arizona is ranked number 10 and the Trojans follow at number 13. The Gila Monster's had defeated the Trojans earlier in the season at the New Mexico Military Institute Tournament in August.
After first set upset the Trojans battled in the second and third sets but it just wasn't enough. The Trojans had several errors throughout the night were just too much to overcome. After losing the first two sets 11-25 and 23-25, the third set was anyone's game. The Trojans found their fighting spirit but it just wasn't enough. The third set loss ended with yet another unforced error, 26-28.
In her first season at SSC, Head Coach Angie Byrd has completed a successful season. The season ends with one of the best records the Trojan Volleyball team has ever had, 35-5. Congratulations to Coach Bryd and the Trojans!
