Seminole State Men's golf team got off to a strong start at the NJCAA National Tournament in Phoenix, Arizona. After entering the tournament unranked, the Trojans made some noise on their first day by finishing tied for fourth place. SSC shot an opening round 297 to put them in a tie with Mississippi Gulf Coast. The Trojans were 8 shots off the lead. Freshman Jed Williams led the team with 71 putting him in a tie for fifth. Sophomore Dan Difrancesco finished with a 74, good for a tie for 28th. Freshman Klay Dodd and Sophomore Mariano Newton shot a 76 and were tied for 46th. Sophomore Nathan Harris rounded out the team with an 82. "I was very pleased with the men's performance at their first National Tournament," said Head Coach Nathan Jahn. "If we can get some of our putts to fall we can definitely make a move."

In round two, the Trojan men had a solid day shooting a team total of 298 play and were sitting in fifth place. Williams led the team again with a round of 72, keeping him at one shot under par for the tournament. Harris battled back from a rough 1st round to shoot a 74. Difrancesco and Newton both shot 76's and Dodd rounded out the scoring with an 82. "Our guys battled all day long and are once again in a good position to bring home a top five finish," said Coach Jahn. "The final two days of competition will test the players with temperatures around the 100 degree mark." 

The SSC men had another consistent round of golf on their third day of the tournament. The team shot 297, which had them sitting in sixth place. Leading the team for round three was Difrancesco who shot an even round of 72, closely followed by Harris with a 73. Rounding out the scoring was Newton and Williams who both shot a 76. Dodd finished the day with a round of 82. 

The final round of the tournament was the roughest for the SSC, as they shot a 306. However, it was still the seventh best round of the day for all teams, which allowed them to finish in sixth place overall.   Leading the team was Difrancesco with a 74. Newton and Harris both shot a 76, and Williams rounded out the scoring with a 77. Dodd finished with an 87. "I was very happy with our men and their performance in the final round," said Coach Jahn. "The conditions were a lot tougher today and they handled it well. I am excited with our 6th place overall finish. They competed hard all year and are deserving of this honor." Difrancesco and Williams finished in 19th and 21st and earned Second Team All-American awards. Newton finished tied for 49th, Harris tied for 55th and Dodd 112th.
