EL RENO, Oklahoma - The SSC Trojans defeated the Redlands Community College Cougars on Monday night at the Cougar Fieldhouse in overtime 89-86.The Trojans are now 6-11 for the season and 4-3 in conference.

"I am genuinely proud of the character we displayed last night in a tough road environment against a very talented and athletic team. We managed to hang in there battling a ten to sixteen point deficit for most of the game," said SSC men's head coach Dr. Tom Mills. "We were able to chip away and get the win because everybody that had a chance to stepped up and made play after play, especially Kendall Parks, Chase Mongold, and Darius Bryson. This is a particularly gratifying win for us having not responded in this fashion in similar situations more than once this season."

Seminole State got off to a sloppy start in the 1st half, committing 12 turnovers and only shooting 41% from the field. Redlands took advantage of the Seminole miscues by getting several easy fast break layups and dunks to help them build an early lead that got as large 16 points in the 1st half. Redlands led 42-30 at halftime. Seminole State came out in the 2nd half on a mission to attack the basket and they were successful in doing so. The Trojans got to the free throw line 31 times in the 2nd half and converted 22 of those attempts. Combine that with shooting a healthy 63% from the floor and the ability to overcome the 12 point half time deficit they were able to force the game into overtime. Seminole State led by one point with eight seconds to go in overtime and Redlands failed to successfully inbound the ball under their own basket on two separate occasions which led to a Trojan steal and 2 made free throws that sealed the game.

Seminole won a tough battle in overtime 89-86.

Chase Mongold led the Trojans with 24 points and 8 rebounds and Kendall Parks added 20 points.

The Belles and Trojans will play at home on Thursday, January 26 against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College of Miami, OK at 6 and 8 pm.
