On Thursday, February 16th, the Seminole State College men's tennis team traveled to nearby Oklahoma Baptist University to play a dual against John Brown University from Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Even though JBU competes on the university NAIA level, the SSC men were to much for them and won handily 9-0. The Trojan men started off hot, not losing a single game in the three doubles matches, winning 8-0 at #1 doubles, sophomores Admire Mushonga and Oliver Andersen, 8-0 at #2 doubles, Caio Nunes and Johnathan Taylor, and also at #3 doubles, Johnathan Hill and Taylor Johnson. In singles action, the dominance carried over as the Trojans only lost 8 games in the 6 singles matches. With the win, the men move to 1-0 this spring in dual match play. Head Coach Brian Nelson, "This was the first time since I've been at SSC that we have played John Brown in a dual match, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Even though we have a lot of young guys playing, we came out and played hard and were able to get the job done. I like what I see from our new guys, they keep improving all the time. I look forward to the next few weeks as we get to face off with some of the top junior colleges, to see where we stand overall nationally."
