SEMINOLE, Oklahoma - SSC Trojan baseball hosted Pratt College of Kansas for a three-day series that turned out to be two-day series due to rain. The Trojans went 2-1 overall, losing on Friday 4-0, and two shut-out wins on Saturday, 9-0 and 11-0.
The Trojans struggled at the plate on Friday against Pratt only coming up with four hits in seven innings of play. Head Coach Jeff Shafer said, "Pretty simple, we were outplayed in every facet of the game today, and when you don't score it's impossible to win." Offensively, SSC swung at too many bad pitches and took too many good pitches. Pratt's pitcher, Jarrod Jameson deserves credit; he threw strikes and kept the Trojans off balance for his six innings.
Seminole took advantage of Saturday's rainout and got in some batting practice indoors and a hitter's meeting to prepare them for Sunday's games.
The games on Sunday were much improved for the Trojans. Not only were the bats hot the pitchers threw the ball really well. Sophomore, Billy Waltrip, of Braggs, OK, struck out eight straight hitters at one point and didn't issue a single walk in his 5 innings of work. The bullpen threw two scoreless innings and preserved the shutout, freshmen Kyle Renbarger of Lexington, OK and Billy Love of Fletcher, OK. "Our hitters did a much better job today and we swung the bats like we are capable of," said Head Coach Jeff Shafer.
