Dayton Beach, FL-Three of the Trojan women's golf team competed in the National Tournament this past week at the LPGA International course in Daytona Beach, FL. Freshman Alejandra Arellano lead the way for the Trojans shooting very consistantly over the 4 days of play. She had rounds of 78, 78, 77, and 76 placing her in a tie for 9th overall. After the tie breaker, she finished in 10th place and brought home a 2nd team all-american award. "I was very pleased with how Alejandra handled herself as a freshman at the National Tournament," said Head Coach Nate Jahn. "I look for her to do big things next season and throughout her college career." Returning to the National Tournament, for the second year was sophmore Danielle Rhodes. Danielle played up and down during the tournament firing rounds of 95, 89, 95, and 86 finishing in a tie for 55th overall. The third member of the team was freshman Payton Taylor. The first two rounds didn't go well for Payton, but she picked up her play during the final two rounds. Payton shot rounds of 96, 100, 94, and 90 finishing in 68th place overall. "Payton's short game was lacking the first couple days, but it picked up the last two rounds," said Jahn. "She got her first real taste of top competition, battled back well, and should improve for next year's tournament. I am very happy with how the girls handled themselves this week," said Jahn.
