The Seminole State College men's tennis team opened their Spring season Friday on a bright note, defeating NCAA Division 2 University of Arkansas Ft. Smith 7-2.
SSC jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles play, with the pair of Alex Brown and Tyler Bridges winning 8-1 at #2 doubles, and Dimitar Komov and Trent O'Bannon also winning 8-1 at #3 doubles. The #1 doubles pair of Tendai Tapfuma and Wikus Myburgh fought hard, but lost a close one 8-6.
In singles action, the Trojans were just as dominant winning five out of six singles matches. Trent O'Bannon at #5 singles was the only one to lose, dropping a close match in three sets. Tendai Tapfuma at #1 singles, Wikus Myburgh at #2 singles, Tyler Bridges at #3 singles, Aramis Azucey at #4 singles, and Dimitar Komov at #6 singles all won in straight sets.

The win moves SSC to 1-0 overall this Spring. Next up: Feb 22-23 at the Collin County Tennis Bash in Plano, Texas with the teams to be announced soon.
