The Seminole State women's tennis team recently traveled to Kansas to play three dual matches.
On Thursday, March 28th, 2013, SSC faced off against Southwestern College from Winfield, Kansas. The dual match was played in Arkansas City, Kansas at Ark City High School, as Seminole State won by a final score of 5-4. The Lady Trojans picked up wins at #1 (Pinones-Haltenhoff/Brelsford) and #3 (Bryen/Shannon) doubles and also got singles wins at #1 (Helga Pinones-Haltenhoff), #2 (Shawnee-Ann Brelsford) and #5 (Hannah Tomlinson).
The next day, Friday, March 29th, 2013 the ladies would then play two matches. First up was a dual match vs. Seward County CC from Liberal, Kansas. This was the third time to play Seward in a dual this year, as SSC once again took the win by a final score of 5-1.
The second match of the day was against host Cowley College. Seminole started the match off on a good note, getting wins at #1 and #3 doubles, giving them a 2-1 advantage going into singles. Only needing 3 singles wins to clinch the match, the Lady Trojans could not quite accomplish that only getting wins at #2 and #6 singles and dropping the dual match 5-4. Two other singles matches were lost in third set super tie-breakers, but Seminole was unable to grab either of those which could have turned the match around.
The matches improved the Lady Trojans record to 8-5 overall on the year.
Next up: Monday, April 1st, 2013 vs. East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma at 1:00 pm.
