The Seminole State Pitching staff has finished the regular season ranked #1 in the country in Strikeouts and Strikeouts per nine innings. The Trojan pitching staff led the country this year with 476 strikeouts in 54 games and averaged 10.5 strikeouts per nine innings. The Trojans were led in strikeouts by Kevin Hill with 87, Jordan Watson 77, and Teddy Stankiewicz 61. Sophomore Kevin Hill mentioned it was a goal the staff set way back in the fall. "We talked about being the best staff in the nation back in August and our mindset is completely different than every other staff in the country; we wanted to be the most aggressive and we accomplished that. When asked about his staff's recent achievement, pitching coach Brady Huston said, "I couldn't be happier for those guys…we have a unique group and they deserve all the credit; they have worked hard all year and really bought in to the mindset and mentality from day one. You set goals every year and this year we wanted to strikeout 500…we came up a little short when we lost a couple games due to weather, but I think our guys will settle for being #1 in the Country." Up until last week, the Trojans were 2nd in the category behind Central Arizona College who played 4 more games and racked up 60 more innings but the Trojans struck out 44 over the weekend to capture the regular season crown. Freshman LHP Jordan Watson said, "Coach Huston told us before the Rose Series that if we wanted to lead the country we would need 50 strikeouts over the last four games, and that's a lot, but our entire staff thought it could be done.
