
The Seminole State men's and women's golf teams recently competed in the NJCAA Region 2 tournament in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Neither team was able to qualify their entire team for Nationals, with both taking 2nd place overall. However, three individuals from the Women's team scored high enough to move on to the 2013 NJCAA Women's National Championships to be held in Mesa, Arizona May 13-16, 2013.
The three individuals who qualified were: Alejandra Arellano a Sophomore from Mexico, Josephina Jenkins a Freshman from England, and Payton Taylor a Sophomore from Seminole.
The National Championships will be held at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona. The first rounds will get underway on Monday, May 13th.

Maumelle, AR-The Trojan Men's golf team competed in the Mustang Invitational at the Country Club of Arkansas in Maumelle, AR this past week. The first day of the tournament was cold and windy, but the team held it together and finished in 1st after the first round. The team shot a first day total of 316, putting them one shot ahead of the host team Central Baptist College. Leading the way for the Trojans was freshman Ryan Stults, who fired an opening round 77. "We had three players who really played consistent today considering the conditions" The 2nd day of the tournament was even better for the men as they fired a team total of 307. This gave the Trojan Men their first tournament victory of the year. They pulled away the 2nd day winning the tournament by 13 shots. Seminole was the only Junior College in the tournament field of 12. "I was very pleased with how the boys played and how they competed with players 2-3 years older than them." Leading the way the 2nd day was Soph. Tyler Carlson who shot and even round 72. The Trojan Men had three place in the top-5. Tyler Carlson finished 2nd, Ryan Stults 3rd and Freshman Sebastian Otoya finished T-5th. The Trojan men will play their next tournament in OKC at Lake Hefner on April 9th-10th.

Winfield, KS-The Trojan men's golf team competed in the South Central Kansas Spring Invite this past week at Quail Ridge G.C. in Winfield, KS. The team battled the wind and near freezing temps both days of competition. The team shot a team total of 311 in the first round, putting them in 5th out of 12. Leading the way for the team was Soph. Jacee Bowlin who fired an opening round of 74. "We had a couple kids play well and a couple who didn't today." "It hurt our team total a little bit but I look for the team to put together a better day tomorrow." –Coach Jahn. The second day held better results for the team shooting a final round total of 303. This was the 3rd best round of the day. However, it was not enough to move the team up any as they finished the tournament in 5th place. Soph. Tyler Carlson led the way with a -3 69 in the final round. This was the best round of the tournament for all players. "Tyler struggle the first day, but came back in the 2nd day to shoot one of the best rounds I've seen him play." The Trojan men will play their next tournament in Maumelle, AR on March 25th-26th at the Country Club of Arkansas.
