SKILLMAN, NJ (May 31) -- The ITA has announced the 2013 All-America Teams for NJCAA and CCCAA Men's and Women's Tennis. For NJCAA, ASA College and Collin College placed two student-athletes on both the men's and women's teams. On the CCCAA side, Ventura had the most men's All-Americans with four, while Santa Monica landed three on the women's team. 

Tendai Tapfuma, a Freshman from Zimbabwe made the men's singles list after finishing ranked #4 in NJCAA. On the women's side, two more Freshman received the award as Shawnee-Ann Brelsford from Australia and Helga Pinones-Haltenhoff from Spain were named to the doubles list after finishing #5 in NJCAA this spring.

A player must meet any of the following criteria to earn ITA All-America honors: 

Singles: Finish in the Top 10 of the final ITA College Tennis Rankings
Doubles: Finish in the Top 5 of the final ITA College Tennis Rankings

2013 Men's NJCAA Nationals 6th place finish
2013 Men's NJCAA Nationals 6th place finish

The Seminole State men's tennis team recently competed in the 2013 Men's NJCAA National Championships in Plano, Texas. After five long days of play, SSC finished sixth nationally.

Highlights of the week were semi-final finishes at #1 singles for Tendai Tapfum, #3 singles for Tyler Bridges, and #6 singles for Dimitar Komov. All three doubles teams also made it to the quarter-finals in each of their draws, but fell in the round of eight.

In the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, Seminole State moved up one spot to #5 in NJCAA. The rankings were recently released on April 12th, 2013.

Several men were also ranked individually, with Tendai Tapfuma ranked #11, Wikus Myburgh #15, Tyler Bridges #37, in singles and the doubles combinations of Bridges/Myburgh #8, Brown/Tapfuma #28, and Komov/Vechione #35.
