Four Seminole State College baseball players were recently chosen in the 2013 Major League Baseball draft this past weekend. Leading the way was Teddy Stankiewicz, who was chosen 45th overall to the Boston Red Sox. Also selected was William (Caleb) Simpson in the 21st round to the San Francisco Giants, Jorge Perez in the 30th round to the Houston Astros, and Ty Williams in the 35th round to the New York Mets.

Kevin Hill, a Sophomore from Tecumseh, Oklahoma, was named to the 2013 NJCAA All-American Second Team on Wednesday. Hill had a strong campaign during the 2012-2013 season, finishing 6-2 overall with a 2.28 era.

Coach Simmons and the Seminole State Baseball coaching staff will be holding an open tryout on Tuesday June 4^th, 2013 at 8:30AM. All players in the 2013 and 2014 graduating classes are welcome to tryout. There is no cost for the tryout. The tryout will include a pro-style workout with a scrimmage to follow.

The itinerary for the tryout is as follows:

                8:00 AM: Registration
                8:30 AM: Welcome/Introductions
                8:35 AM: Stretch
                8:45 AM: 60-yard dash
                9:00 AM: Warm-up
                9:15 AM: Outfielders throw
                9:30 AM: Infielders throw
                9:45 AM: Catchers throw
                10:00 AM: Short batting practice (8 swings)
                After BP: Scrimmage

All players participating in the tryout will need to provide proof of insurance and a schedule of their summer ball team. Players will be required to wear proper baseball attire (pants, cleats, hat, etc.) Please no shorts or cutoffs. Catchers will need to bring their own catcher's equipment. We will not be providing any equipment necessary to tryout.

It is our effort to start this tryout by 8:30 AM. Please schedule accordingly so that we can stay on schedule through the day's activities.
